JENNIFER SHORTEN
DESIGNER
over a decade in the industry
My work as a designer is driven by my identity as a multidisciplinary artist. Over a career spanning more than a decade in the fashion industry—alongside 15 years as a private client stylist in luxury fashion—I have cultivated a reputation for excellence, backed by an extensive portfolio and a trusted network of professional references.
My expertise spans both menswear and womenswear, with a foundational background in fine tailoring. Because of my training in design communications, my perspective extends far beyond a singular garment or the manufacturing pipeline; I approach design strategically, understanding how to position a product within the market to optimize consumer reach and brand storytelling.
Furthermore, my background as an undergraduate design researcher—specializing in human-centered design and textile engineering—gives me a unique edge. I thrive in the foundational stages of creation, making me the ideal collaborator for new-to-market projects, prototype design, and technical product development.
Whether crafting a bespoke collection, consulting on market positioning, or engineering a new product line, I bring an analytical mind, an artist’s eye, and a deep dedication to every project.

& Styling
With a career rooted in Visual Merchandising and Styling, I have established a longstanding reputation in the industry. These disciplines continue to heavily influence my broader design work.
Currently, I am highly selective regarding new commissions. Personal styling services are reserved exclusively for legacy clientele; however, I remain open to discussing media contracts—including television, film, editorial, and runway projects—subject to availability
Regarding visual merchandising, I am looking to return to the field at a macro level. My recent background involves managing province-wide projects, and I am seeking a role that continues to utilize that specific combination of large-scale creative direction and data-driven strategy
product designer
Leveraging a diverse background in apparel and visual merchandising, I have recently expanded my practice into the Product Design sector. My current portfolio includes successful projects in:
-
